Really upstanding service from first interaction to picking up my car. When I first called in, it wasn't a scenario where they tried to get me to come right into the shop unnecessarily. They took the time to clarify and diagnose what could be the potential issue and whether it actually made sense for me to bring the car in. This upfront way of level-setting expectations and being consultative was consistent through the whole process. After doing their inspection, they rolled out a clear set of recommendations they had, level of effort and cost between the parts and labor, and most importantly, worked with me on prioritization so that I didn't spend more $$$ than I needed to. They quoted me on a conservative basis in terms of not overestimating how quickly they could do the work, and factored in buffer room on cost so I knew the price I was quoted was what was most likely going to be where I landed. At the end of the week, not only was I pleasantly surprised that I would be getting my car back earlier, but that they had managed to shave off a considerable amount of the costs from labor. I wouldn't call this 'under-promising and over-delivering' so much as being realistic and transparent. For me, personally, it never feels good walking away with a big repair bill, but when you know as an individual you can't do that work yourself, it can often feel like you are getting fleeced when the experience is poor. I think this is the first time I walked out of a mechanic shop feeling that I was treated with dignity. Long term they will have my business. If cost is a concern, I would say they are a bit on the upper quartile of their labor, but you pay for what you get. I want peace of mind when I take my car back out on the road without the resentment of whether I got the wool pulled over my eyes. I think the cost is more than justified by the value they bring, and no doubt I can already see how I will be saving in the long term as I track my car repairs. If you're looking for a long term mechanic, well, they're right around the corner, and they're name is Tom's Automotive.
