Both of my experiences at Toms has been great! Everyone I have talked to has been very courteous and patient. They have each taken the time to chat with me and explain things in a way that a non mechanic could understand. One guy even drew a little sketch to help paint the picture for me. Not everyone wants/needs that level of detail but personally I like knowing and was so happy he didn't rush me or make me feel like "you don't need to know this....just let me fix it". To me...it is the mom & pop shop customer service that in many ways a thing of the past. I will admit that their location is a major bonus for me as I live within walking distance but outside of that I have really appreciated their thoroughness and honesty without feeling pressured to get anything fixed beyond what I came in for.. I originally brought my car in to get a 3rd opinion on what was up with my car because other opinions and price differences were SOOOO drastically different ...wasn't thinking that I was going to find a new/preferred shop but I'm glad that I did. The only thing I wish I would have known was that there is an auto scheduler for your next oil change.... I was taken by surprise when I got a call about my appointment months after my last one. At first it bothered me because I didn't make the appointment and was sensitive to all the scams out there that auto-charge you if you do not cancel, etc... Not that Toms could charge me for anything....just me being sensitive and skeptical. IF I had I known that their system automatically does this in order to remind me to get the oil change done I wouldn't have blinked an eye. Now that I know I am very thankful because the sticker in my car just becomes a part of the scenery...I DO forget and I'd much rather keep my car healthy. I would recommend that Toms hang up a sign in the shop and post it on the website letting customers know about this positive extra step in customer service they take to help you.

Tom's Automotive is consistent and solid as a rock. I've trusted them with my cars since 1977 and a few of the faces are still the same. If you have to spend money on repairs and maintenance, it's nice to know that you can go to a place where the people are friendly, knowledgeable and honest and the prices are reasonable.

I inherited Tom's Automotive as my mechanics from my Father, who was a mechanic. I've been their customer since 1970. Never a mistake. The latest example was difficulty starting my car in the mornings; turned over very slowly. While the most likely source would have been a weak battery, Tom's found the battery good. They kept the car overnight hooked up to a sensor testing for electrical circuits that might be turning on spontaneously with the key off. (I'd never heard of that happening, but Tom's keeps track on blogs). When they found no spontaneously live circuits, they checked listened carefully to the starter motor and then an Acura repair blog and yes, there were 800 incidents of starter motors wearing out after 11 years on my car. Cars are complicated and Tom's knows them well.

Tom's is excellent. Great price for basic service. Shuttle service around West Seattle made it super easy. Even a free car wash! I wish I had shopped around earlier for local West Seattle places to service my Honda.

This is THE BEST auto repair shop near me! JUUUUST had the front & rear brakes re-done on the mini. Clear communication, no scary talk, genuine concern for safety. Appreciate it so much! I've been taking my car & wife's car to Tom's for 2+ years now. Consistent service & communication, every time. Of course, I never WANT to spend money on car maintenance, but I NEED to... I don't know anything about the inner workings of my cars, but I need to be able to drive them. So, I bring my vehicles to Kandie & crew at Tom's Automotive. I get quality service for my cars, which now run great - and Tom's guarantees their work. I don't know of another auto shop that offers the same guarantee. I trust them. And I'll keep bringin' my family's cars to Tom's.
